Sometimes you have to cut your losses. Let it go.

If it were an older model things could have worked out. I'm barely breaking even on this one.

I've flipped a few vehicles in my time. I have always lost on Jeeps. Yet I keep trying. Maybe it really is a Jeep thing..

Or I was dropped on my head a lot as a baby.

Details?

I've always had that fear with "Craigslist specials" that I think I could flip.

The trick is to buy in like June when people are selling them cheap, and sell in November when people are getting scared of impending snow.

I bought my WJ on the first day it snowed here in Madison, WI last year. It was pretty cheap, but when I tried to dick around on price with the dealer, they would only budge by a few hundred bucks. Their reason: being the first snow day of the year, if I didn't buy it, someone else would. Quickly.

Still was a pretty decent deal though.

I flipped 2 motorcycles in high school. Broke even on one and made 700 on the other. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not. It can be fun just make sure no one is going to start yelling at you about (like parents or wives)

I didn't do my due diligence. I knew it had a blown engine. But I didn't know that In 99 Chrysler redesigned the 4.0 for the GC. You can't pick up an older 4.0 and slap it in. You need a 99-06 block. So instead of a few hundred for a used engine you're looking at buying a parts truck or $1000+ for something usable.

The machine work needed to save the original block and/or the price on used 99+ engines.

I would have loved to hold on until the first snow. I bet I could have doubled my money as she sits. But I have a horribly short attention span and hate spending money.

In the end it's just $700 on 4 wheels and time for a new project.

It's the luck of the draw for sure!

Honestly if you can barely break even most of the time and get a couple home runs here and there I think you'd be doing just fine in the flipping business.
